Join us for 2nd Sunday on King Street November 13

CHARLESTON, SC --- 2nd Sunday on King Street, Charleston's popular shopping, dining and cultural event, continues November 13, 2011. From 1:00-5:00 PM King Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic from Queen Street north to Calhoun as businesses invite everyone to enjoy the best shopping, dining and services the region has to offer, both on the sidewalks and in the street.

This month The Post and Courier will help us kick off the holiday season with special guests, surprises and an early appearance by Santa. Meet Post and Courier Columnists Frank Wooten, Gene Sapakoff, Melanie Balog, Brian Hicks, Warren Peper and Shirley Greene. You can win great prizes from Savvy Shopper and Charleston Scene, including tickets to Jimmy Buffet's February 2 Charleston Concert.

The music is always great at 2nd Sunday. Celtic Fiddling Ensemble Na Fidléirí will play in front of the Charleston Library Society with musicians from the Taylor Festival Choir. On Lower King Street you'll also hear Shrimp City Slim and Nikolai Svishev. Look for Gravel Road, Austin Fitzhenry, Michael Lindsey, our favorite accordianist Matt Lohan, and musicians from the Wando High School Orchestra.

Pick up parking vouchers and coupons at the 2nd Sunday Information Tent at Wentworth, and win a hand painted chocolate turkey from Christophe Artisan Chocolatier, a "Goodie Bag" worth $150 from Roberto Coin Boutique, or a chic PanAm handbag from House of Sage.

Rick Reinert will continue painting his plein air King Street Series in front of his gallery, Reinert LePrince Fine Art at 179 King Street, where you can purchase his beautiful 2nd Sunday note cards, also sold at the Charleston Preservation Society Book and Gift Shop at Queen and King.

Parking vouchers for two hours of free parking in most City Garages will be available online at www.2ndsundayonkingstreet.com and at the information tent.

Many of the parking garages on Upper King Street have become popular for 2nd Sunday, where restaurants Halls Chophouse, The Macintosh, The Swamp Fox, and Closed for Business offer Sunday brunch.
